What is a missed call answering service?
A missed call answering service picks up the calls that would otherwise go to voicemail, so callers reach someone. Ours is an AI voice agent. It answers the calls that ring through after hours, or while you have call forwarding turned on, in your business name. It books the job on your calendar and texts you a summary.
How the forwarding works
Your number stays the same. After your business hours, calls forward to your agent. You can also turn call forwarding on yourself whenever you want the agent to take your calls, and turn it off when you are back. We set the forwarding up with you and show you how to switch it on and off. Having your phone ring first, with the agent picking up only the calls you miss, is a separate optional add-on called daytime overflow. For the full after-hours setup, see the after-hours answering service.

What the caller gets: voicemail vs text-back vs an answered call
| Question | Voicemail | Text-back | Answered by your agent |
|---|---|---|---|
| What the caller hears | A beep | Nothing on the call; a text after they hang up | Your business name and a question about their problem |
| What you get | A recording, if they leave one | A text thread, if they reply | Name, number read back, address, problem, best time |
| Urgent problems | Wait in the voicemail box | Depend on the caller texting the details | Asked about on the call and marked by your rules |
| Setup on your side | None | Business texting registration with carriers | Call forwarding on your number |
| Best for | Calls that can wait | Callers who prefer to text | Calls that would otherwise go to the next shop |
Text-back and an answering agent are not either/or. We set up the answering side; text-back is optional and can be added, so ask about it on the audit.

What the agent does on a missed call
A greeting in your name. One question at a time: name, number read back, the problem, and the best time. It books the job in an open slot on your calendar. It repeats the details back and says goodbye. It declines pitches. On a silent line it asks once whether anyone is there, then says a polite goodbye.
If the caller hangs up before the agent answers, a text-back, an automatic callback, or a missed-call entry in your summary are optional add-ons. None of them is part of the standard setup.
What you get after the call
A summary by text with the caller's details, the booked time, and a LEAD or SPAM tag. Form and ad leads get the same fast reply with instant lead response, and the reasoning behind it is in our guide to speed to lead.

Questions
FAQ
What is a missed call answering service?
It answers the calls that would otherwise go to voicemail. Ours is an AI voice agent that picks up the calls that ring through after hours, or while you have call forwarding turned on. It answers in your business name, books the job on your calendar, and texts you a summary.
Does my phone still ring first?
Not in the standard setup. After hours, or while you have forwarding on, calls go straight to the agent. The rest of the time your phone rings as normal. Having your phone ring first and the agent take only the calls you miss is daytime overflow, an optional add-on.
Do I keep my number?
Yes. Forwarding is set on your existing number, and you can turn it off at any time.
Is this the same as missed call text-back?
No. Text-back sends a text after the caller hangs up. An answering agent picks up the call while the caller is still on the line and asks what they need. Text-back is optional and can be added.
What does the agent ask?
Their name, the best number to call back (read back to confirm), what they need, and a good time to call. You can add questions such as the service address.
What about spam calls?
The agent politely declines sales pitches and robocalls and marks them as spam in your summary.
What does it cost?
Pricing is scoped on the free audit, based on how many lines you have and when you want the agent to answer.
